Ceantar na nOileán

Ceantar na nOileán is a group of islands located between the harbours of Cill Chiaráin and an Fhir Mhóir, 56 km to the west of Galway city. The islands are connected to the mainland via a bridge that was built at the end of the 19^th century. This area stretched from Béal an Daingin as far as Leitir Mealláin.

According to the 2016 Census, 2,118 people lived in this Gaeltacht Language Planning Area (LPT), and 71.7% of this population over 3 years of age spoke Irish on a daily basis.
