Visit the Gaeltacht

Is ag an ndún ceann tíre daingnithe seo ar an dtaobh thiar de Chuan Ard na Caithne a tharla an léigear agus an t-ár ar a dtugtar Cath Dhún an Óir air, sa bhliain 1580.

The Gaeltachtaí are beautiful areas of Ireland, where the Irish language remains the first language of those who live there. Irish or Gaeilge is the community language here and is a fundamental part of the local identity. It’s not alone though, other elements of traditional Irish culture are also very much alive here too, amongst them traditional music, dance, storytelling, sport, crafts, cuisine and boating.

Many of the Gaeltachtaí are situated along our Atlantic Coast, it’s easy to get off the beaten track and immerse yourself in breath-taking scenery made up of stunning cliffs, mountains and isolated beaches, which we think are the best in the world.
