Údarás na Gaeltachta were awarded an eGovernment award for the best Irish Language website at a ceremony hosted by John Bowman in the Four Seasons hotel in Dublin on Thursday night (21 Feb).

Údarás won first place in the Irish Language category for their website www.udaras.ie. This category rewards public sectors bodies that provide a high standard of service through Irish on the internet in an attractive, effective and innovative way.

Receiving the award, Siubhán Nic Grianna, Communications and Marketing Manager with Údarás said that “the award highlights the importance of providing an online userfriendly service to its customers in Irish. There is a need for best practice where providing an online service to the public in Irish is concerned and www.udaras.ie demonstrates that this can be done in an effective, easy to use, and clear manner.”

The Irish Language category was sponsored by Foras na Gaeilge and the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Eamonn Ryan TD., presented the awards.
