The Minister of State for the Gaeltacht Dinny McGinley, T.D. will officially launch the Blas Bídh Uíbh Ráthaigh food festival at the National Ploughing Championships tomorrow, Wednesday, 26 September at 12:30. The festival will take place from 19 to 21 October 2012.
The Blas Bídh Uíbh Ráthaigh food festival, which is being organised by Comhchoiste Ghaeltacht Uíbh Ráthaigh, aims to raise the national and local community’s awareness of health foods available in Uíbh Ráthaigh, celebrate the progress of food production in the area in recent years and encourage other people in the area to set up food businesses.
The festival is being organised for the first time this year to provide a platform for food businesses in the area, identify and discuss new business opportunities, create links and working networks between the businesses and to entice tourists and visitors to the area for the weekend.
Blas Bídh Uíbh Ráthaigh is supported by Údarás na Gaeltachta through the Festivals Scheme which aims to develop and promote festivals throughout the Gaeltacht and boost its economy.
