Two digital hubs were opened in Donegal yesterday; the Carraig Airt gteic, a partnership between Donegal County Council and Údarás na Gaeltachta, and Leibhéal 2 gteic Gaoth Dobhair, which was developed with the help of funding from the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund. Minster for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, T.D. performed both official openings.

Minister Humphreys said “I am delighted through Our Rural Future, my Department is investing in and supporting the continued expansion of the gteic network of innovation, enterprise and co-working hubs.”

“My department has provided €1.7 million towards the development of these two new hubs in Gweedore and Carrigart. I am delighted to officially open both facilities today and I know that will make a real and lasting difference to these communities.”

At the official opening of the Leibhéal 2 gteic Gaoth Dobhair, Údarás na Gaeltachta chief executive, Mícheál Ó hÉanaigh said “The Údarás na Gaeltachta Strategy is based on providing the Irish-speaking population of the Gaeltacht with first-class, sustainable facilities, on a par with those anywhere in the world. That is what we have here in Gaoth Dobhair and Carraig Airt.”
