Packaging Innovation continues apace in the Donegal Gaeltacht
Údarás na Gaeltachta is delighted to welcome the announcement by ProAmpac, a client company based on the Gaoth Dobhair Business Park, on a multi-million euro contract it has signed with C&D Foods, the pet food division of ABP Food Group, one of Europe’s leading food group processors. The multi-year contract establishes ProAmpac’s facility in the Co. Donegal Gaeltacht as the strategic supplier of flexible pet food packaging for C&D.
The contract is expected to facilitate site production expansion and further job creation which will significantly contribute to making Gaoth Dobhair a global centre of pet food and sustainable ready-to-eat packaging manufacturing. ProAmpac employs 200 people locally in Gaoth Dobhair and has 5,200 employees working across 41 operations globally. ProAmpac is a leading global flexible packaging company with a comprehensive product offering, providing creative packaging solutions, industry-leading customer service and award-winning innovation to a diverse global marketplace.
Welcoming the announcement, the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin, T.D., said:
“This is wonderful news for ProAmpac, its staff and the wider Gaoth Dobhair community. This contract will ensure that employment will remain steadfast in the area, which has seen an upturn in employment in recent years. The Gaoth Dobhair community and the wider area will benefit from this valuable initiative which will see sustainable products made in this Gaeltacht area shipped all over Europe.”
Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for Sport and the Gaeltacht, Jack Chambers, T.D., also welcomed the announcement and said:
“This is a significant announcement for the Donegal Gaeltacht creating new jobs at the facility while also supporting the existing jobs there. This is the result of continued innovation and commitment from the team at ProAmpac and this substantial contract win will ensure the company continues to grow and develop while being at the cutting-edge of sustainable packaging innovation.”
