The SW-GROW European project, which Údarás na Gaeltachta is a partner in, is seeking expressions of interest to implement a pilot project which would see shared infrastructure being used to dry seaweed in the Gaeltacht.
This pilot scheme will be carried out in a single geographical area to ascertain whether the sharing of seaweed drying infrastructure between SMEs would benefit the industry while also exploring the cost and environmental benefits of shared infrastructure.
The SW-GROW project, in conjunction with Údarás na Gaeltachta, is co-funded by the EU ERDF’s North and Arctic Periphery Programme and comes to an end in August 2022 having been in operation since August 2019.
The aim of the SW-Grow project is to increase economic opportunities in the seaweed industry by developing innovative working practices among SMEs involved in this project in the NPA region to develop quality seaweed products of a consistent, clearly identifiable standard.
Expressions of interest forms for this pilot scheme will be accepted until Wednesday 09 March 2022.
