Course for Gaeltacht women Starting a Business: Cumasú Tús
Cumasú Tús, a free programme for female entrepreneurs based in the Gaeltacht, is now accepting applications. The programme, funded by Údarás na Gaeltachta and delivered by Atlantic Technological University and Munster Technological University, is aimed towards those starting out on their business venture.
The online course runs for 12 weeks with opportunities for one-to-one mentoring and in-person networking. The course covers a wide range of topics including leadership, customer relations, problem solving, revenue streams, and communication.
The programme supports participants through the process of starting a business and in developing their business plans. It also aims to provide more opportunities for female entrepreneurs in the Gaeltacht and to give them the confidence to develop and improve their business.
Susan Ní Churnáin, Training and Education Officer with Údarás na Gaeltachta said:
“This programme has been going from strength to strength since it was launched three years ago in 2024. It’s great to see the ideas and talent that these Gaeltacht women bring to the table developing into various businesses, with the support of Cumasú. As well as developing the entrepreneurial skills of each individual participant, the businesses emerging from this programme add to the local and national economy, with some products and services being sold across Ireland, and further afield.”

“I had no business background before I started this course, so it was great to get guidance and support to help me develop my passion into a career. This course was a great opportunity to meet other women living in the Gaeltacht, and although there was a huge variety of businesses, we were all able to learn from each other. The talks we received from various experts were also hugely insightful. The course was very valuable to me and my new business, and I would highly recommend the Cumasú programme.”
Cumasú Tús is aimed at female entrepreneurs who have a business idea they wish to develop or those who have been in business for less than 18 months. The applicants should be located in the Gaeltacht region of Mayo, Galway, Dongeal, Kerry, Cork, Meath or Waterford. The closing date for applications is the 4th of Septmber 2026.
