New and future trends in the audio visual and digital media sectors are the subject of a conference being organised by Údarás na Gaeltachta in association with Gréasán na Meán Skillnet. Entitled The Digital Age and the Future, the conference will focus on trends in broadcast media, analyse what the future holds for the current broadcast model and for independent Irish content producers, the challenges of working within a minority language and digital media trends. The conference will take place in the Connemara Coast Hotel, Na Forbacha on the 21st November and talks will be given by both national and international speakers, including Glen Killane, RTÉ; Alan Esslemont, BBC Alba; Dafydd Rhys, S4C; Jeff Ford, TV3, Michéal Ó Meallaigh, TG4 and Damien Mulley, Mulley Communications.
Steve Ó Cúláin, Chief Executive of Údarás na Gaeltachta said “We are delighted to organise this conference along with Gréasán na Meán Skillnet. Údarás na Gaeltachta has had an integral role in developing the audio visual sector in the Gaeltacht for the past 25 years and this sector now employs over 350 people full time throughout the Gaeltacht. The conference will focus on the future opportunities and development potential of the digital content sector and we hope to gain new knowledge and ideas and integrate these into Údarás na Gaeltachta’s enterprise development strategy.”
