Údarás na Gaeltachta welcomes Celtic Media Festival to the Gaeltacht for the first time.
Today, Údarás na Gaeltachta welcomed the Celtic Media Festival to the Donegal Gaeltacht; this year, the festival is taking place in An Clochán Liath, the first time ever the festival has come to the Gaeltacht.
For over forty years, the Celtic Media Festival has been bringing together media professionals from the Celtic nations and regions, with an ambition to promote the language, culture and talent of those nations and regions.
Rónán Mac Con Iomaire, Director of Community, Regional and Language Development with Údarás na Gaeltachta said:
“We are very happy that the Festival has come to the Gaeltacht this year; the media industry is particularly important to the Gaeltacht and to the Irish language, due to the significant employment the sector provides and to the central role of Irish language media in the preservation and rejuvenation of the Irish language.”
“In recent years, Irish language films have placed Ireland on the international stage. This is due to the skill and creativity of those working in the industry, and also to the consistent support and investment by state agencies, including Údarás na Gaeltachta, in the development of the industry in Ireland. During this year’s Festival we will have the opportunity to celebrate that worldwide recognition, and to develop opportunities for collaboration and cooperation with our Celtic neighbours. We wish Féile na Meán Cheilteach 2023 all the best.”
