A Meeting of the Board of Údarás na Gaeltachta was held in Gort an Choirce, Co. Donegal today (27 July 2007). At the meeting, 170 new jobs were approved in a variety of projects throughout the Gaeltacht. A total investment of €17 million was approved including capital, research and development, training and employment and property development investment.

A Renewable Energy Development Programme
Financial assistance of €362,250 was approved to assist An tÚdarás promote a programme aimed at developing sustainable and renewable energy throughout the Gaeltacht over a three year period. As part of the programme, the achievement of efficient standards of energy utilisation in Údarás property will be concentrated on, the development of energy projects in conjunction with Údarás client-companies and locally through the co-operatives and community groups.
Largo Foods, Páirc Ghnó Ghaoth Dobhair, Co. Donegal
A research and development grant was approved for Largo Foods to assist the company develop new products for its companies located at Páirc Ghnó Ghaoth Dobhair; Bia Ghaoth Dobhair, Bia Ghaoth Barra and Pita Éireann. The research is directed at new products, value added products, healthy snack foods, and the development of new manufacturing and packing processes.
Darní Ceard Teoranta, Cill Charthaigh, Co. Donegal
A support package was approved for Darní Ceard Teo to assist the company develop its clothing manufacturing business, renovate the existing building and direct its attention to promoting a tourism project.
Selc Éireann Teo, Béal an Mhuirthead, Co. Mayo
A support package was approved for Selc Éireann Teo to assist the company expand and develop the business. The company produces light control electronic devices. It’s expected to have 149 employed in the business when the new development has been completed (87 additional jobs).
Real Rock Solid Systems Ltd, Baile an tSagairt, An Spidéal, Co. Galway
A support package was approved for Real Rock Solid Systems Ltd to assist the company in setting up a new business managing and recovering digital information. The business will be located in Teach an Mhainéara in Baile an tSagairt. When the company is up and running, it’s expected to have 30 employed in the company.
Micro Múnlaí na hÉireann Teo, Indreabhán, Co. Galway
A support package was approved for Micro Múnlaí na hÉireann Teo located in Na hAille, Indreabhán for significant development and to adopt a strategic change of direction. The company will concentrate on plastic microproducts, new products and services for international medical and electronic companies. As a result of the development, it’s expected to create 16 additional jobs.
Ionad Fiontraíochta Ros Muc, Ros Muc, Co. Galway
A capital provision of €1.7 million was approved for the renovation and extension of Ionad Fiontraíochta Ros Muc. It’s proposed to upgrade the building to high standard offices providing space for Cumas Teo, Pléaráca Teo, MFG Teo (relocating to Ros Muc as part of the integration process under discussion), and space for new projects. The extension will also comprise of library and café space.
Irish Rope Access and Safety Consultants Ltd, Baile na Buaile, Co. Kerry
A training grant was approved to assist the company implement a training programme. The company provides a consultancy service to companies and organisations working in places high above the ground and it also provides training courses to State organisations and for the public sector.
