Coláiste na Rinne was established in 1905 and officially recognised in 1907 as an Irish language summer school. Its precursor was informally established by popular demand in 1903 when visitors to the area, largely from Dublin, displayed an interest in learning Irish. Pádraig Ó Cadhla, an organiser for Conradh na Gaeilge secured a grant to establish summer classes in 1903 and from there the teaching of Irish in Gaeltacht na nDéise began and has flourished ever since.
Of all that’s to offer a visitor to the Gaeltacht, the opportunity to learn and improve An Ghaeilge is truly our unique selling point. Language tourism is a growing sector and Coláiste na Rinne, in the Waterford Gaeltacht has been providing families with the opportunity to come together and learn Irish for many years. What sets the Coláiste apart is the ability to provide accommodation and dining as part of the offer. They also provide online learning.
