Training Support Scheme
- Glasoiliúint is a training support scheme with a fund of €50,000 to encourage Gaeltacht craftspeople and professionals to develop new skills or learn new skills in a range of their work related to energy conservation or renewable energy technologies.
- €2,000 will be made available at a rate of 75% under the ‘de minimis’ rule for craftspeople and professionals in the Gaeltacht towards tuition fees and travel costs (if necessary) for recognised courses.
Conditions
- This scheme is aimed at craftspeople/companies whose business is in the Gaeltacht. This scheme is relevant to you if you wish to transition into the renewable energy sector.
- It will be a condition of the grant that any business receiving support under this scheme is in the Gaeltacht.
- The grant will be paid subject to ‘de minimis’ guidelines.
- These courses must be recognised courses, focused on career development courses, skills improvement and the development of new skills.
- No grant will be paid in respect of full-time courses.
- Only part-time courses are eligible.
Aim/Purpose of the Scheme
- There is a high demand for electrical, plumbing, engineering, architectural, installation, construction and roofing skills in the renewable energy sector.
- Investment is being made in offshore wind turbines, and demand for solar panels, electric boilers, and heat pumps is also increasing. There are significant employment opportunities in this sector.
- The purpose of this scheme is to further train craftspeople and professionals who seek to transition into the renewable energy sector as part of their work.
