Údarás na Gaeltachta welcomes funding for climate action projects in Donegal

Údarás na Gaeltachta warmly welcomes the announcement from Donegal County Council regarding the approval of over €1 million in funding for climate action projects in the county under the Community Climate Action Fund.

We are particularly pleased that a significant portion of this funding is directed towards projects in Donegal Gaeltacht areas. This demonstrates the commitment of our Gaeltacht communities to sustainability and climate action.

Among the Gaeltacht projects that have been approved for funding are:

  1. Comharchumann Forbartha Dhún Lúiche (€100,000): For a solar PV system, community building renovation, LED lighting upgrade, electric vehicle charging point, bicycle stand, mini-forest, and pollinator project.
  2. €100,000: Lárionad Acmhainní Nádúrtha CTR & Carntogher Community Association, Co. Derry/ Coiste Forbartha Charn Tóhair – Energy efficient upgrades, Solar Panels and related equipment, Retrofitting community buildings, Heat Pump, Growing Benches.
  3. €79,000: Lárionad Achmhainí Nádúrtha (LAN Ctr) – Solar PV, Energy Efficient Upgrades, EV Charger, Biodiversity Project
  4. Áislann Rann na Feirste (€69,000): For a solar PV system, energy efficiency upgrades, bicycle stand, materials for community garden, community building renovation, and LED lighting.
  5. Coiste Forbartha Dhobhair Teo (€51,000): For a solar PV system, LED lighting upgrade, and water filling station.
  6. Coiste Forbartha Chnoc Fola (€31,800): For a solar PV system and electric vehicle charging point.
  7. Gleann Fhinne Cuideachta Faoi Theorainn Ráthaíochta (€16,500): For a solar PV system and related equipment.
  8. Comhlacht Forbartha An Tearmainn (€6,700): For LED lighting upgrade.

These projects will greatly contribute to the efforts of Gaeltacht communities to reduce their carbon footprint, increase renewable energy use, and raise awareness about environmental issues. Údarás na Gaeltachta is committed to supporting these projects and we will continue to work in cooperation with our communities and with the County Council to ensure a sustainable future for the Donegal Gaeltacht and beyond.
