Údarás na Gaeltachta Welcomes €1.5 Million Investment in Outdoor Recreational Projects in the Gaeltacht

Údarás na Gaeltachta has welcomed the investment announced by the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, in outdoor recreation projects in the Gaeltacht.

There is significant investment in Greenways, Blueways, Forest Parks and Cycling Routes. New walking trails will be provided for the first time, as well as projects that will support outdoor sports such as kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming and other water activities.

Among the projects being funded include:

  • Millside Walk Fintown, Co. Donegal: €200,000
  • Muckish Railway Walk, Co. Donegal: €500,000
  • Ionad Pobail an Mháma – Car Park, Co Galway: €172,583
  • Belmullet Tidal Pool, Co. Mayo: €295,974
  • Link to Parc Rath Chairn, Co. Meath: €140,400
  • Recreational Enhancement at three Blue Flag Beaches – Ballinskelligs, Banna and Rossbeigh, Co. Kerry: €198,000

Údarás na Gaeltachta welcomes this continued support from the Department for the development of outdoor recreational projects in the Gaeltacht. These projects will greatly contribute to the development of tourism and the well-being of local communities in the Gaeltacht areas.
