Gaeltacht Communities in Donegal will be the first in the country to avail of the groundbreaking service which provides solar panels with no upfront costs

Údarás na Gaeltachta is happy to announce that they will be supporting the innovative ‘Solar as a Service’, which will allow homeowners to avail of a PV system, with no upfront costs. Information sessions on the service will begin next week.
Digren Energy, in partnership with local groups, plan to provide ‘Solar as a Service’, to the Gaeltacht community of Northwest Donegal for the first time ever. SaaS is a smart energy provider in which they, the provider, cover the solar panel installation costs. Homeowners will benefit from a fixed rate lower than traditional electricity for the energy produced – with zero upfront costs.
While SaaS has been available to the industrial and business sectors for a number of years, the service will now be offered to private homes for the first time in Ireland. The Gaeltacht areas of Gweedore, The Rosses, Cloughaneely as well as the islands of Tory and Arranmore will be among the first areas in the country with the opportunity to avail of the services.
