At an Údarás na Gaeltachta Board meeting in Cill Airne, Co. Kerry last Friday (29 October), 80 new jobs were approved in projects which will be located throughout the Gaeltacht, with a total funding of €0.75 million.
In relation to the Donegal Gaeltacht, a funding package was approved for the development of an Innovation/Business Incubation Centre in Áislann Ghaoth Dobhair on the Gaoth Dobhair Business Park. The Innovation Centre will be located on the first floor of the Áislann where a range of business accommodation will be provided consisting of enterprise units, business incubation units, meeting rooms, a reception area, administration office and other necessary facilities for a range of different enterprises and start-ups. It is expected that ten small businesses and 45 jobs will be developed in the Innovation Centre over a three year period. A new management structure will be established to developing and manage the the Innovation Centre and tenders are currently being sought from companies or organisations to undertake this work.
At the meeting,the board approved the provision of workspace to Comhairle Paróiste Ghleann Cholmcille Teo in An Marglann (An Mart) in Gleann Cholmcille. The community groups aims to research the possibilities and develop plans for a social and cultural centre in the area.
A research and development grant of €13,725 was approved to Áislann Rann an Feirste Teo, Rann na Feirste to assist the company in the development of a marketing and management plan and a training programme for the new Áislann development that has recently been completed.
A research and development grant of €13,950 was approved to Ionad Pobail Iar-Dheisceart Dhún na nGall Teo to assist the company in the development of a marketing, business and management plan for An Fiontarlann in Cill Chartha to promote the enterprise centre’s facilities and attract to start up business there.
