At an Údarás na Gaeltachta Board meeting in Na Forbacha today (20th September 2013), a number of projects, which could lead to the creation of 158 new full-time jobs and involve a total investment of €10 million (from both Údarás and companies) when up and running, were approved. Further information regarding these projects will be available in due course.
The Údarás Board welcomed the announcement earlier in the week by the Minister of State at the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Dinny McGinley T.D., that he has signed the Regulations prescribing the language planning criteria under section 12 of the Gaeltacht Act 2012. This is another step towards completing the process leading to the announcement of the Gaeltacht Language Planning Areas, Gaeltacht Service Towns and Irish Language Networks. Údarás executives, in conjunction with the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and Foras na Gaeilge, are working on the next step which will be announced in a month’s time.
The meeting was also informed of the commencement of a Diploma in Language Planning and Preservation on Saturday (21 September). In excess of 50 people have registered for this course which is being offered by NUIG in conjunction with Údarás na Gaeltachta.
