Údarás na Gaeltachta has been selected as one of nineteen partners in an ambitious project to pilot reuse, repair, and refurbishment (RRR) ecosystems in six regions across Northwest Europe (NWE). This is in response to the rapid increase in waste from electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in the region, primarily due to the shorter lifespan of electronic devices.

Main Objectives of Project E6:

  • Build European capacity for the reuse, repair, and refurbishment of electrical and electronic equipment, based on six ‘pilot ecosystems’.
  • Support these ecosystems through a ‘Service Hub’, as well as scaling up through learning experiences with Communities of Practice and policy advocacy.

Specific Objectives:

  • Promote the transition to a circular and resource-efficient economy.
  • Increase the resources of the regions to provide citizens in NWE with the first choice of reuse, repair, and refurbishment of electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Create tools and methods to support RRR ecosystems.
  • Develop resources, raise awareness, and scale up.
  • Implement six regional action plans to test the approach with key actors, prioritizing citizen engagement.

“We are delighted to lead this pioneering project, which not only addresses the growing issue of electrical and electronic waste but also promotes a sustainable circular economy,”
