Údarás na Gaeltachta has been shortlisted for the prestigious internet Golden Spider awards for its website www.udaras.ie

The Golden Spider awards, which are held annually in Dublin, recognise and showcase online excellence and are considered an important benchmark for distinction in creativity and innovation. There are 24 categories in total and Údarás has been shortlisted in the “Best e-government Website” category. This category recognises government bodies which are bringing cost efficient public sector services to a wider community through innovative processes and usability standards.

Siubhán Nic Grianna, Communication Manager with Údarás said that this recognition was a great boost to the organisation. “The Golden Spider awards have become the most prestigious internet awards in Ireland and we are privileged to be nominated with some of the best websites in the country. There is a need for best practice where providing an online service to the public is concerned and www.udaras.ie demonstrates that this can be done in an effective, easy to use, and clear manner”
