Údarás na Gaeltachta announce Vhi Healthcare contact centre for Gaoth Dobhair, Co. Donegal 25 new jobs for Donegal business park

At a board meeting in Galway recently, Údarás na Gaeltachta approved assistance for a new Contact Centre operated by Vhi Healthcare, employing 25 people at Údarás na Gaeltachta’s Business Park, Gaoth Dobhair.

The new Contact Centre will become fully operational over the next 18 months and the Centre in Gaoth Dobhair will complement the existing contact centre in Kilkenny, which has won many national and international awards over the past six years .Vhi Healthcare is the largest health insurer in Ireland with a membership of 1.56 million.

At the job announcement in Galway, Údarás na Gaeltachta’s Chief Executive, Pádraig Ó hAoláin, said “this new job initiative is an endorsement of both The Gaoth Dobhair Business Park and of the transformation that has occurred there in the last few years. Vhi Healthcare is one of the most recognised companies and household brands in the country and its investment in Gaoth Dobhair is a huge vote of confidence in the workforce and in the area in general. Today’s announcement also highlights Páirc Ghnó Ghaoth Dobhair’s ability to provide the skills base and technical infrastructure to provide support for such similar innovative enterprises”.

Speaking at the announcement, Mr Michael Owens, Director of Human Resources, Vhi Healthcare said “We are very excited about locating this Contact Centre in Donegal and we are confident that it will add significant value for our members.” For the majority of Vhi Healthcare members their main contact with us is via telephone. They consistently value the fact that they can talk to someone direct who can deal with their query promptly and offer them a solution that meets their needs. Being located in the Gaoth Dobhair Gaeltachtwill give Vhi Healthcare the added benefit of also being able to offer the service to members in Irish.”

The Gaoth Dobhair Centre will begin a recruitment campaign immediately and willbe up and running in April 2007. An open evening will be held in An Chúirt, Gaoth Dobhair, Monday 15th of January, starting at 8.00pm.
