Údarás na Gaeltachta is organising a food tourism seminar which will take place on Wednesday, March 9th from 9am to 2pm in Áislann Ghaoth Dobhair on the Gaoth Dobhair Business Park, Doirí Beaga. The seminar is part of the annual Donegal Business Week and aims to give participants, who currently operate in this sector or who plan to develop a food tourism business, an opportunity to meet with others in the tourism sector.
The event will focus on developing and growing a strong branded food tourism product along the Wild Atlantic Way which will attract and increase tourism activity in the region. The speakers will give a national/regional/local perspective on how to develop a product which will grow and contribute to a strong tourism economy along the Wild Atlantic Way. Speakers include: Bernadette Mullarkey, who has 25 years marketing experience and in-depth knowledge of the tourism and hospitality sectors; Artie Clifford, founder and chairperson of The Irish Food Awards; Zack Gallagher, who started the Irish Food Guide and is passionate about enhancing the image of Irish food, Sinead Hennessy, from Fáilte Ireland; and Conor McTiernan from LYIT who has a variety of experience in hospitality and regional tourism development.
The seminar will cover the following topics:
• The Food Tourism Strategy of Fáilte Éireann
• How to compete and excel in food tourism
• The importance of branding
• How to develop a high quality product offer/experience
