Údarás na Gaeltachta congratulated TG4 on its pioneering work during the last ten years not only regarding programme innovation and originality but also for inspiring the Gaeltacht and the Irish-speaking community in general.
“TG4 plays a pivotal role in the Irish-speaking community”, said Pádraig Ó hAoláin, Chief Executive of Údarás na Gaeltachta, “the station has surpassed itself in carving a niche in the competitive television sector in Ireland while on a limited budget. A television production industry which greatly increases employment has been established in the Gaeltacht as a result of TG4 and it is important that an tÚdarás and TG4 work in tandem to strengthen this industry in the challenging years which lie ahead”.
Údarás na Gaeltachta wishes TG4 every success in this new independent era and hopes that enough funding will be provided to enable integration of its Irish language programmes and to strengthen its status in the competitive television industry in Ireland.
