A one day seminar organised by Údarás na Gaeltachta for directors of the Gaeltacht based Language Services Centre is taking place in the Claregalway hotel today (Wednesday 27 May).
To date, Údarás has established 32 Language Services Centres throughout the Gaeltacht and their directors are gathering to discuss the Language Centre’s development and marketing activities.
Pádraig Ó hAoláin, chief-executive of Údarás will deliver the opening address and other speakers include Aisling Ní Bheacáin from The Languages Centre, National University of Ireland, Maynooth and Sinéad Ní Mháille from marketing company, Bane Mullarkey.
The Language Services Centres offer the European Certificate in Irish syllabus in most of its centres throughout the Gaeltacht along with grammar courses and conversation classes. The European Certificate in Irish is accredited by the National University of Ireland, Maynooth and is an internationally recognised course run by Acadamh na hOllscolaíocht Gaeilge. A Diploma in Translation and a Diploma in Irish are also available in several of the Language Services Centres throughout the Gaeltacht.
These Centres offer Irish Courses to facilitate people of every level of ability. Last year over 900 people attended various Irish courses in the Centres throughout the Gaeltacht.
