Official opening of Gorlann na Gaeilge

At an event in Comharchumann Shailearna Teo today (20 February) Pádraig Ó hAoláin, Chief executive of Údarás na Gaeltachta, officially opened Gorlann na Gaeilge.

Gorlann na Gaeilge is a newly renovated building consisting of office space, a computer room and a kitchen and is situated behind the co-op’s offices in Indreabhán. The development cost €160,000, 80% of which was funded by Údarás na Gaeltachta and the rest by the co-op.

Two companies, Fíbín and Breacán are located in this new unit, along with offices for the Cois Fharraige Community Employment Scheme and the Cois Fharraige Folklore Scheme. Between all the projects, 28 new full and part-time jobs will be provided and up to 30 people participating in schemes.

Speaking at the event, Pádraig Ó hAoláin said “this is a great facility for the community in the area. Comharchumann Shailearna Teo are to be commended for their tremendous work done and the wide range of support services that are to be provided for the community in the region. This new business unit will be an added support to the community”.

Comharchumann Shailearna Teo. are operating since 1984 providing a range of services to the community in the area and they have many new cultural, social and economic projects in the pipeline.
