Údarás na Gaeltachta is pleased to announce the establishment of a pioneering new Food Hub at the Enterprise Centre in Ros Muc, Connemara. The Hub aims to provide comprehensive support for existing food producers and those interested in establishing food businesses in Conamara Láir.
Conamara Láir has a rich food heritage – from traditional farming to sea fishing and shellfish cultivation. This heritage remains vibrant today, with new food initiatives flourishing in the area. The Food Hub will build upon this strong foundation.
The Hub will focus on three main services:
1. Comprehensive information and training for existing food producers and potential entrepreneurs
2. Flexible rental space for food companies to grow and develop
3. Development of the local food industry through tourism and local market development
Údarás na Gaeltachta will work in conjunction with entrepreneurs, local organizations such as Forbairt Chonamara Láir Teo., and other stakeholders to implement a comprehensive development program from 2025 onwards. Special attention will be given to supporting start-ups, including providing professional space for those just starting out.
“This is a significant step for the development of the food sector in the Gaeltacht,” said Tomás Ó Síocháin, CEO of Údarás na Gaeltachta “The Food Hub will provide a platform for businesses to grow sustainably, creating employment and new opportunities in the area.”
The Hub will place a strong emphasis on innovation and sustainability, ensuring that Gaeltacht food businesses can compete effectively at both national and international levels.
