Mícheál Ó hÉanaigh to be appointed as Chief Executive of Údarás na Gaeltachta

Micheál Ó hÉanaigh, Príomhfheidhmeannach Údarás na Gaeltachta, in oifigí na heagraíochta

Following a recruitment process for the post of Chief Executive, the Board of Údarás na Gaeltachta agreed to appoint Mícheál Ó hÉanaigh as Chief Executive of the organisation, subject to completion of contractual arrangements. Mícheál is currently Director of Enterprise, Employment, Property and Engineering with Údarás.

Whilst announcing the appointment today, Anna Ní Ghallachair, Chairperson of Údarás na Gaeltachta, thanked and congratulated Steve Ó Cúláin on his retirement from the role of CEO which he has held since June 2012. The Chairperson remarked “His tenure coincided with a particulatly challenging period in the history of Údarás na Gaeltachta, marked by additional functions, budget cuts and uncertainty.The organisation has survived those turbulent times, thanks to the careful stewardship of the CEO. As a result of his efforts, Údarás na Gaeltachta is now ready to face the future with renewed vigour and optimism. The Board and staff of Údarás na Gaeltachta, together with the people of the Gaeltacht and the Irish language community as a whole, are hugely indebted to him.”
