Údarás na Gaeltachta welcomes the decision made by The Arts Council, to provide funding for Ealaín na Gaeltachta Teo to implement their 2011 action plan. Údarás na Gaeltachta jointly fund this budget, enabling Ealaín na Gaeltachta Teo to implement their work programme this year.
Ealaín na Gaeltachta Teo, a joint venture between Údarás na Gaeltachta and The Arts Council, promotes development of the contemporary and traditional arts in the Gaeltacht areas. Ealaín na Gaeltachta Teo employs regional facilitators to implement their work programme.
According to a study carried out by the international economic consultants INDECON in 2010, the Arts have a significant economic impact in the Gaeltacht. The study reports that the total impact was up to €20 million. 247 jobs depended directly on this investment.
