€1 million approved for the audiovisual industry

Údarás na Gaeltachta and TG4 today announced a €1million investment fund in the audiovisual industry towards the strategic planning of production companies. This fund is financed by an tÚdarás, TG4 and production companies from the Gaeltacht.

The scheme seeks to maintain and support the development base of production companies and to enable them to development programme material for TG4 and for other broadcasters. This scheme came about as a result of an consultative session with the audiovisual industry held in the Connemara Coast Hotel recently, attended by executives from Údarás na Gaeltachta, TG4 and independent TV producers from the Gaeltacht.

Chief Executive of Údarás na Gaeltachta, Pádraig Ó hAoláin said “that this scheme would provide production companies from the Gaeltacht with the opportunity to improve their skills, develop new programmes, and to strengthen the audiovisual industry in the Gaeltacht”.

Head of TG4, Pól Ó Gallachóir said, “that this scheme would give companies from the Gaeltacht the opportunity to formulate a strategic plan which would benefit the industry, the Gaeltacht and television.”
