Connaught/Leinster Regional Committee Meeting

A meeting of the Connaught/ Leinster Regional Committee was held in Halla Pobail Bhaile Ghib, Co. Meath on the 29 April 2008.

The committee met with a delegation from Comhlacht Forbartha Bhaile Ghib Teo. and the manager, Mícheál Ó Suilleabháin, gave a summary of the organisations progress since November 2006 to date. During this period, special emphasis was placed on organising cultural events and youth services.

Also discussed at the meeting were the efforts being made by the development company to build a new community service centre in Baile Ghib which would provide childcare services, a youth club as well as enterprise and office space. Various sites are currently being examined and it was agreed to discuss the matter with Meath County Council.

Assistance was approved for 9 various projects:

  • Funding for a summer stage show to be organised in Inis Mór
  • A sewage disposal company in South Conamara for the improvement of its services and the creation of 4 fulltime jobs.
  • Development of catering services in Casla.

The next meeting of the Regional Committee will be in Camus on the 22 May 2008.
