At an Údarás na Gaeltachta board meeting in Doirí Beaga, Co. Donegal today (9 September) the board welcomed the decision made by The Arts Council and Údarás na Gaeltachta to provide funding for the company Ealaín (na Gaeltachta) Teo to implement its action plan for 2011. The Arts Council is providing €410,000 in funding to Ealaín (na Gaeltachta) Teo and Údarás na Gaeltachta will jointly finance.
Ealaín (na Gaeltachta) Teo, a joint venture between Údarás na Gaeltachta and The Arts Council, promotes development of the contemporary and traditional arts in the Gaeltacht areas.
The company administers a comprehensive action plan providing funding for schemes which benefit organisations and artists throughout the Gaeltacht areas. The results of this plan will be visible shortly during the national culture night on Friday 23rd September. For the second year in a row, Ealaín (na Gaeltachta) Teo is co-ordinating a wide programme of events which will take place throughout the Gaeltacht during this culture night.
