AI Creative Content Competition in Irish Language

Visibility of Irish in the Digital Age

There is a need to ensure that the Irish language is alive and visible in the new digital age in which we find ourselves.

Currently, there is little content available on technology platforms in Irish, compared to other languages. One of the ways to resolve this deficit is to enable the community to greatly add to the amount of content available in Irish. This gives people the opportunity to create content for their families and friends, thereby greatly contributing to a digital Irish-language environment.
By taking part in this competition, there is an opportunity for the Irish-speaking community and the Gaeltacht to learn about the latest tools for adding to video content in Irish.

Competition encourages creators to produce Irish language content using AI technology 

The competition aims to support creators in exploring AI technology while creating more Irish language content. Participants can submit their entries at An Togra Scéalaí – Project Scéalaí – FilmFreeway , where all competition and submission guidelines can be found. 

“We’re pleased to launch this competition to encourage more Irish language content creation” said Rúairí Ó Néill from Údarás na Gaeltachta. “By encouraging creators to use AI tools, we hope to see more creative video content produced in Irish. This competition supports our goal of promoting the Irish language through new creative approaches.” 

The competition is open to filmmakers interested in creating Irish language content using AI tools. It provides an opportunity for creators to experiment with AI technology while contributing to Irish language media. 

Údarás na Gaeltachta hopes the competition will encourage both experienced creators and newcomers to try AI tools for content creation.  

The competition will showcase how AI tools can be used to create Irish language video content, potentially inspiring more creators to work with both AI technology and the Irish language.
