At a meeting of the Board of Údarás na Gaeltachta in Na Forbacha today (27 February) the following projects were approved:
Óige na Gaeltachta Teo
Óige na Gaeltachta Teo is to receive €300,000 to assist in implementing it’s youth club support programme throughout the year.
Comhar Naíonraí na Gaeltachta Teo
Comhar Naíonraí na Gaeltachta Teo is to receive €1.2m to assist in the management and administration of the 75 pre-schools (naíonraí) throughout the Gaeltacht for which it is responsible.
Childcare Centre, Carna, Co. Galway
A capital provision of €850,000 has been approved for the development of a Childcare Centre in Carna, which is being jointly financed by National Childcare Investment Programme. A grant of €600,000 has been approved by Pobal for this centre and will be refunded to Údarás once the nursery has been developed. This was an exceptional decision taken by Údarás to ensure that the Pobal grant be secured as it has to be drawn down before year end. The facility will cater for 27 children as well as providing an after school childcare service when development is complete. Development is expected to commence shortly, and when complete, the creation of 5-7 full-time jobs is anticipated.
Comharchumann Ráth Chairn Teo, Ráth Chairn, Co. Meath
A capital grant of €120,000 has been approved for Comharchumann Ráth Chairn to assist the co-operative with the refurbishment and conversion of an old building into an office and enterprise unit. When development has been completed, the unit will consist of 9 offices, meeting rooms and other facilities such as a kitchen, storage space and toilets.
