A meeting of the Board of Údarás na Gaeltachta in Béal an Mhuirthead, Co. Mayo

A meeting of the Board of Údarás na Gaeltachta was held in the Áislann, Béal an Mhuirthead, Co. Mayo last Friday, 4th April 2008.

At that meeting, in excess of €1 million was approved for television production companies in the Gaeltacht to undertake two specific programmes:

• a training grant of €150,000 to provide a training programme aimed at developing script writing and directing
• a training grant of €1 million over a two year period to assist the production companies develop programme ideas for TG4 and other broadcasters.

These programmes are being implemented in conjunction and with support from TG4 and the other Gaeltacht production companies.

The following projects were also approved:

Comhar Iorrais Teo, Béal an Mhuirthead, Co. Mayo
A capital grant of €80,000 was approved for Comhar Iorrais Teo to renovate the co-operatives old store in Áit Uí Chonáin. This building will be redeveloped as enterprise space and will be available to local entrepreneurs seeking space to develop a business.

Industrial Estate, Baile Bhúirne, Co. Cork
A capital provision of €150,000 was approved to develop a prefabricated unit comprising of enterprise and office space on the industrial estate in Baile Bhúirne.

Comhar Iorrais Teo, Béal an Mhuirthead, Co. Mhaigh Eo
A capital grant of €110,000 was approved for Comhar Iorrais Teo to help the co-operative develop part of their building in Sráid an tSéipéil, Béal an Mhuirthead. This building will be refurbished and converted into training and office facilities.
