South Kerry

This Gaeltacht Language Planning Area (LPT) is located in a wild mountainous coastal area with incredible views from both sides. It stretches from Bá Fhionnáin to Cathair Dónall, and out to sea to Scealaga. It is a dispersed area, with no population density in any part other than the town An Choireáin – the town is located in the heart of the area but is not included in the LPT itself.

The 2016 Census figures show that there are 1,808 people living in this LPT and 6.9% of the population over 3 years of age speak Irish on a daily basis.
