Gaeltacht food and drink products of the highest quality, created by client companies of Údarás na Gaeltachta, have won 14 awards at the Blas na hÉireann 2020 awards.  This recognition is a significant achievement for the four companies in question reflecting their dedication to their craft and the excellence of their products.

Údarás na Gaeltachta has extended its congratulations to the award winners and to all Gaeltacht companies who were shortlisted for these prestigious awards in 2020.

The Blas na hÉireann awards have been supported by Údarás na Gaeltachta for many years and an tÚdarás is very pleased to have provided sponsorship to the awards during that time.  The food and drink sector is an important sector for the Gaeltacht and an area which has seen substantial development over the past 40 years as a result of the dedication of Gaeltacht producers and Údarás na Gaeltachta’s continuous support.  High quality Gaeltacht products are gaining national and international recognition and are establishing themselves as strong international brands.

 

An Builín Blasta from An Spidéal, Co. Galway were the winners of the Blas na hÉireann Rogha na Gaeltachta 2020 award, sponsored by Údarás na Gaeltachta. Heather Flaherty and her team at An Builín Blasta deserve high praise for their Smoked Onion Mayonnaise which has won several awards in recent weeks including a silver medal award at Blas na hÉireann 2020.

 

Folláin Teo from Baile Bhuirne in County Cork are no strangers to success at the Blas na hÉireann awards and this year collected 9 awards for various fantastic products produced in the Muscraí Gaeltacht. Congratulations to Peadar, Máirín and Micheál Ó Lionáird for the innovation and continuous development of Folláin in Baile Bhuirne.

 

Micilín Muc from Daingean Uí Chúis, is a company that have made huge strides in a short period of time and Séamus Mac Gearailt and his company won a well deserved gold medal for their flavoured pork sausages.

 

Dingle Distillery in Daingean Uí Chúis, Co. Kerry is a global whiskey and gin brand, and having won major international accolades in the past year, added two gold medal awards from the 2020 Blas na hÉireann awards for their whiskey and gin products.

 

Blas na hÉireann is an internationally accredited award and the award-winning products are of an extremely high standard.

Gaeltacht Food & Drink EXPO 2020

As part of the celebrations marking 40 years since Údarás na Gaeltachta’s establishment the progress made by the food and drink sector in the Gaeltacht will be highlighted in an online showcase at the end of this month.  The Gaeltacht Food & Drink EXPO 2020 will focus on Gaeltacht companies who have developed and perfected their products over the last forty years, the support Údarás na Gaeltachta has provided to the sector and how Gaeltacht products are now established brands both nationally and internationally.
